Elderflower, the gorgeous elderflower :)

I decided to go pick elderflowers today as I was taking the dog for a walk anyway, and my goodness - I found about 80 flower heads! So, off I went to the shop to get 6kg sugar - I should probably have more, but some heads were quite small. It smells divine and the flowers are still in the carrier bag!

Cordial on the go!

I will use this recipe:

I made loads of cordial 2 weeks ago - it will keep for a few weeks in the fridge, but it's worth bottling in smaller plastic bottles and freezing

Lovely. There's lots flowering here too. I'm not much for cordial and have been wondering if there's any way you can get that glorious scent into a jam or jelly. Anyone have a recipe? Would it work with apples, I wonder?

I've made apple and elderflower wine in the past .... not bad, drinkable, but I'm not into white wines ....

I'm not into wine either... clear alcohol is more my thing. Perhaps I'll do elder flower infused vodka next year. For this year I now have 8 litres of elder flower cordial
