I took a half shoulder of lamb out of the freezer yesterday. I'm going to slow roast it. I think a little Yorkshire pudding, roast parsnip, mashed potato and swede and Savoy cabbage with gravy.

I roasted half a cauliflower with miso, sesame oil and soy sauce earlier - quite tasty. However, I have just eaten one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life! I've baked a couple of large onions in the oven for a very long time (topped and tailed, but skins on) - I wasn't really keeping track, but I think gas mark 6 for a couple of hours (I just stuck them in when I was baking other things). I lifted them out once they were very soft, peeled one, added a dab of butter, a sprinkle of salt and a grind of black pepper. I have then eaten them on some rather sad old buttermilk crackers. Still absolutely delicious! Can't believe I've never had onions prepared like this before when they are so good.
