    It's that time again

I'm off to collect some young nettle tops -there certainly won't be a shortage of that particular crop for a few weeks

    Here are a few recipes...

I like the idea of drying them too for future use

    anyone got any others?

I think I might just make some meatballs with some mixed in with the meat...

I believe "Dock Pudding" popular "up north"(especially Yorkshire and Lancashire) is made at this time of year with nettles. Seems it can be treated like spinach, but as I don't like it I'll not bother.

I have tried nettle soup (yuk!) and nettle beer (even more revolting) so I would have to be really hungry to try them again. I imagine if they tasted really great we'd have bred special varieties and planted fields of them.

I like nettle tea, and put them in soup with other scavenged leaves. Getting wild garlic tomorrow, may look for nettles as well.
              Another happy Nutter...

It’s good for you & I was just thinking if you can treat it like spinach maybe it might taste nice with a bit of grated nutmeg? I’ve only tried nettle tea once,I’ve been drinking lemongrass & ginger tea lately, ginger has similar health benefits to nettle.

I think it tastes more like kale, than spinach. But it smells like cat pee when you boil it, that's the only real negative with it. I feel so virtuous eating them lol
