How do I cook khol rabi and what does it taste like?

I have only cooked it once - mine haven't grown. However, I peeled it, cut it into 'chips' and steamed it then served with butter. It tastes like a cross between cauliflower and turnip. Jolly nice. Now I just have to master the growing part!

I thought more llike Brochilli, Cut into juillienes (?) and steamed it. Very nice.

I often julienne it and stir fry. It is a bit like turnip but nicer in my opinion. I think it's a bit like the stalk of a white cabbage too (which I used to love as a kid). I also like it grated with salad (raw that is!)

Mine didn't grow very big but i grated them into salad, don't think i'd bother growing them again.

Mine tasted like cabbages! I sliced them thin for stir fries or just diced and ate them raw in salad.

Cooked my first one at the weekend - sliced fairly think and mashed in with the spuds.

Hmm - must pay more attention to it next time as I don't recall it changing the taste of the spuds at all....

I really LOVE kohl rabi. I'm not bothering with turnips at all next year - just more of the lovely stuff!
