Porridge made with mostly water, splash of milk and has to have a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 5 mins to get it creamy. Madmax, elder son and I like dark brown sugar and some cream on top, younger son stirs in a spoon of syrup. I usually make it quite thick then the kids thin it down with a bit of milk which also helps cool it down a bit for them.

Don't be so down on yourself Flum, you seem to have a very generous nature. What a lovely thing to do.

If Porridge is what we call Oatmeal then I love it. We cook it on the stove and when it is finished cooking add: blueberries, pecans and a little brown sugar and milk...

Marmite on toast every morning for me, and fruit salad. I'm usually sat at my desk by about 7:45 munching on the toast with a green tea of some description. Then a yoghurt at about 10:30-11.

I do tend to get bloated out if I have a wheat it seems....

Maybe porridge is the way forward, with recent events concerning my Dad, and the cholesterol reducing properties of porridge, I might have to start - though I'm not keen on micro-porridge, I never seem to get it right, and it either comes out like wallpaper paste or I need a knife and fork to eat it.

I agree with you there, porridge is one thing that always cooks better on the stove.
