I like dumplings but not with suet. I usually use butter but somewhere in the back of my mind I remember AWT making them with olive oil.

I found the recipe and they are now in my stew rising well

    For the Dumplings:
    250g/9oz plain flour
    1 tsp salt
    2tsp baking powder
    30ml/1fl oz/2 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp freshly chopped flat leaf parsley
    4 tbsp freshly chopped chives
    150ml/¼pt milk

Just eaten them. They taste quite nice and better for you than the suet ones

Hey shirley we're not all as good a cook as you - what do you do with all those ingredients?

Do you just mix 'em all up? Can you lessen the salt quantity? How many of what size does it make?

        Thanks.

          Sorry...

Put flour . salt and baking powder into a bowl. [I use less salt as it is to taste]
add herbs and I have added mustard at times, [only a pinch of powder]
          mix together

Add olive oil and mix with a fork whilst adding milk until a sticky dough is formed ,,ie not as dry as pastry

add dumplings to stew..size of golf ball, [they will rise in size] approx 15 mins before end of cooking time.

I use my kenwood to mix all ingredients

          any help? hope you enjoy

              Dumplings

Hi Everybody, This is my first time on the forum.
Would just like to say that i tried the recipe for Shirley's Dumpling's yesterday and they were smashing, Very light and fluffy. My husband Rich made some a few years ago with Suet, And they were so heavy that i could not move for hours. Thanks cassie1

Thanks. I am so pleased you like them. Now try experimenting with adding herbs or mustard or paprika
