    Hi
Gypsy Tart is a Kent thing; nobody I ever met since moving away from Kent has ever heard of it.

I tried it with Condensed milk at Christmas and it turned out like treacle tart; soooo full of calories but lovely.

    I large tin evaporated milk
    12oz brown sugar
whisk together until the sugar is blended in.
Pour into baked pastry case and back for 25 mins in 180 degree oven.
cool, eat then spend a month dieting.

We used to have it at school with an apple as if that made it healthy![To clean your teeth afterwards]

Is this the one where you put tins of condensed milk in a pan of bioling/simmering (can't remember which) for something like 2 hours?

may have to give it a try, is it best served hot or cold, and with ice cream or custard as we prefer warm deserts

a lot of the setting happens in cooling but you could eat it still warm~would go for thick cream instead of custard~if ya gonna blow the diet you may as well do it in style!

I only allow it in the house during the festive season. Banned all the rest of the year. It's just too nice.

I've never tried this one, but it sounds as if you could convert it into something very like banoffee pie by just adding some whipped cream and banana slices just before serving. This might be enough to tempt family members who 'don't like it'......
