awwwwwww those fish are cute ....... regarding the fish eating veggie ...... i don't get it either, have they never watched fish being caught ...... then after they have been dragged out of the sea, with a big hook in their gob, or dragged out in nets, they then get their heads bashed in, or are left to drown in air ....... and don't get me started on lobsters and prawns .... (says the girl who was in the market one day, saw a load of still live prawns, bought them all and got a bus down to preston docks, and released them) and i'm not even veggie (i tried being veggie once, but i lived next door to a butty shop, and the smell of bacon got me in 3 days) ...... i just felt sorry for them.

Your reply got me thinking - just what do vegetarians use as an alternative to fish.

There is quorn made to look like chicken and soya protein for mince etc - even tofu as a stand alone....fish I thought....well there is something you might be able to try if you have an Asian grocers near you

I'm gonna try these from Waitrose - I loved fish fingers as a kid, the more greasey/crunchy the better.

The Redwood co. fish style fingers breaded -

Perhaps that could be the source of your 'fish' for fishcakes if the breadcrumbs come off easily?

that's another thing, why do vegetarians want to eat meat or fish alternatives? i think i'd rather eat the real thing, than something pretending to be the dead animal i don't want to eat .......??

How about fishcakes but minus the fish

You could grate up some carrot and onion and mix it in then coat in crumbs and fry the same way

I empathise with veggies but love meat and fish too much. I get over my conscience by buying only free range chooks and pork and so on. Also red meat from my local green friendly farmer and fish from the Fish Society that put 10% of profits into marine conservation. Even then I only buy organic farmed and line caught and diver caught and sustainable species of fish and shell fish.

                      I seriously admire true vegetarians.

BTW having a carnivore as OH doesn't help either
