Last week I was lucky enough to be taken to a place called Lundoon (or something like that) for the weekend

We managed to get a table at Locanda Locatelli.
I was really looking forward to trying his broad bean pasta, but they had no BBs as they source them from Italy and the weather had been too hot.

I was most disgruntled (even considered nipping round the corner to Waitrose for some !) but the meal was excellent (actually more than... it was amazing )

The day after we went to Zafferanos (where Locatelli used to be Head Chef) and sure enough they had Italian BBs on the menu, so I ordered them.

Oh dear... They were huge and starchy (just like the Broad Beans )

Good call Locatelli... The only place to eat in Lundoon (when your not paying)

Why on earth do they source their broad beans from Italy?

I'm wondering whether they bring the broad beans from Italy because the UK crops have been low - my few BBs are looking soggy and not developing, literally looking 'washed out' so I'm blaming the rainy rainy summer.
