  • Runny apricot and apple jam - Chutney????

I made some apple and apricot jam a while back but it stayed a little runny. I've used some of it up as a base for sweet and sours but wondered if I could turn it into a chutney by adding spices, vinegar, chopped onion, chopped, sulatanas and some more apples.

Do you think this could work? Any suggestions?

Does anyone think this will work - was going to give it a try this afternoon.

I think it could be lovely. I wouldn't add onions "straight up" though, unless you really like a harsh-ish onion flavour. Maybe try kaloni onion seeds instead? That's what I use in chutneys for a spicy onion flavour. Maybe try soaking the sultanas in orange/apple juice or something first as well.

You could also use the runny jam as a compote with porridge/croissants etc.?
      I don't roll on Shabbos
