haggis stuffed beef olives...sooooo yummy!!! I love my haggis with a whiskey sauce and mashed tattie!! Soooo good!

And my Papa also told me that haggis were wee furry creatures with one leg shorter than the other so they could run around the tops of the mountains! I believed him for years, but then again...I believed that he had lived in an indian camp with a 'Chief Eat-the-breed"...and my Gran's indian name was "Princess Running Water"...because she peed a lot!! lol.

I also used to go down the beach and shout for my Papa's friend polar bear, Yogi! Honestly, the cruelty your parents/grandparents put you through!!

    Hope you enjoyed your Haggis!

I love chicken stuffed with haggis. Very nice! And traditionally too, with neaps and tatties. But get a good one. A cheap haggis just isn't the same.

Just dont, and I mean DONT, poke it with a knife to see if it is done. Many years ago, my mother did this and she stood in the kitchen wearing the haggis. It was also stuck to our ceiling and other parts of the kitchen for a number of years until we decorated.

i am going to show the brats this post, they are still convinced you can tell pasta is cooked by throwing it at the wall, never mind it strips the paint off when you try and remove it

Ooh, recipe for whisky sauce please Bephlam. About to put our haggis to steam now. Going to have it with clapshot but whisky sauce sounds like a lovely way to finish it off.

It's okay Lynda - this one was shot properly with a porridge gun and in the official haggis hunting season.

This is a very quick whisky sauce recipe - it's great with haggis...

                  1) Melt a blob of butter gently
                  2) Add a swoosh of double cream, heating gently
                  3) 1 minute before it’s ready to serve, add a tablespoon of malt (Laphroaig is great for this, or mix a hefty peaty malt with something milder that you want using up. If you're trying to get rid of poor whisky, just chuck in whatever you've got)

If you like it saltier use more butter, if you like it creamier, use more cream! If you’ve used too much malt, cook it for longer and the whisky flavour becomes milder.

Don't overheat when mixing butter & cream or it'll split.

                  Yummy!!!

Sadly out of Drambuie and not enough cash to buy any...

Actually, that's a good point, I have 20 quid birthday money - thanks for the great idea what to spend it on Burnie

Indeed not. Mind you, the farmed haggis don't taste the same

Bephlam, I didn't have any double cream so the whisky sauce will have to wait for next haggis time.
