  • Jerusalem Artichokes Chutney

    Hi all,

Does anyone have any recipe for a jerusalem artichokes chutney? Been looking on the internet but can't find anything. Never made a chutney before, so can't make up a recipe either Any advice would be great.

I'd be interested to see if anyone does have one.

Where's Flum when you want her? Pound to a penny she'll have a recipe up by this evening...

Which is rather timely as I have a fridge bottom full of JA's.

I wouldn't have thought they'd be particularly good chutneyed....but looked up in my pickling book & .........these tasty veg can be used in chutneys & are delicious in spicy Indian relishes....
          Had a look on google & came up with a recipe for relish('scuse me if I don't mmacandcheesereview.blogspot.com/2007/03/artichoke-relish.html - 108k -anage the link,but I shall try!!!.....

....on second thoughts it may just be easier for you to google...Jerusalem artichoke chutney & the recipe I found was 4th down the list....MAC&CHEESE~J.A relish.
Seeing as I have a sackful,I may just try it myself!

Flum was out with grandchildren! I'd just use an apple recipe and substitute. Would probably add extra chillie - 'cos I can! Open a window someone!

                  Thanks Flum.

Simply used an apple recipe and substituted. Turned out really nice, which is a good job because I now have 4 jars of it! Thought the JAs might go really soft and mussy, but they still have a bit of crush and texture to them. Might now make another batch, but this time remember to cut them up a lot smaller.

They'll soften as the chutney matures. Trouble is, you won't know how much until you open the last jar. Try both and see which is best!
