  • Got loadsa foreign spirits - one of these must be brandy?

Ok we have a HUGE cupboard of spirits (from the time DH used to travel alot) SO I am blowed if I am gonna go and buy some brandy specialy to make my cake.

BUT most of the labels are foreign so I have no idea what I have! It doesnt have to be exact but something similar must be ok to use. Can anyone help me with these foreign words please.

Some suitable candidates would seem to be.

Asbach uralt - seit 1892 der geist des weines

Gran Duque Dalba solera Gran Reserva

    Aquardente fim de seculo velhissima

Also got a Metaxa - sure thats brandy?

Please help soon as I want to soak the fruit today ready to cook cake tomorrow. Thanks

3 tablespoons didnt seem enough so do you think 3 glugs is better? *one for me, one for the fruit...*

Metaxa is a brandy - Greek I think. We've got a bottle - the more stars it has on it, the better as I recall.
