Mr Snoop asks: can we have a very austere lunch so we can have something meaty for supper with a bottle of wine? So I've agreed (our diet is more relaxed at the weekends anyway and, as he wheedles, it is Friday night...)
So lunch: steamed veg with a yogurt for afters.
Supper: Cumberland-style sausage roasted with onions and squash, served with steamed broccoli and carrots. No pud whatsoever and especially none of my fancy Belgian chocolate for cooking with...
Sausage and saffron risotto. We overdid it on the wine last night, but at least I had the sense to cut a chunk of the sausage off for today.
There are carrots clamouring to be used, so maybe some kind of carrot soup for lunch and the freezer.
Didn't make bread yesterday, so must today. Rolls and a couple of loaves. In fact, better start with the bread so Mr Snoop can have some with his soup.
That looks lovely. Only kind of bean I don't like is red kidney beans. Not sure if I've got any butter beans in stock but I do have ordinary white beans. Will make this today. Thanks.
I’m ahead of myself today. I’ve got a beef, Guinness and pickled walnut stew slowly simmering away for tomorrow… might as well use the woodstove oven whilst it’s hot!
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Well, I'm not ahead of myself but totally behind. Mr Snoop handled lunch yesterday and we got waylaid by the bread rolls for supper - goat's cheese and cured ham filling. I suffered a bit with indigestion in the night, but it seemed worth it at the time.
So today: Bren's carrot soup for lunch and sausage risotto and salad for supper. Back on the diet tomorrow.
