Tonight, yet again, at Mr GF's request, Leek and potato soup. He now says can he have it at least twice a week. It is his favourite at the moment with fresh bread.
It tasted great, although the flavour will depend to a great degree on the spices used. The combination of ground almonds and parsnip in the sauce gave it the same sort of texture that you get when you buy a takeaway curry - something I have not been able to create at home until now. I will definitely be making it again.

Sounds like I'll have to try it too. Thanks.

            • Pork in a creamy onion and apple sauce with green beans and polenta.

I keep thinking about those yummy Yorkshire puddings - and have managed to resist so far

              • When I came to write this I was thinking stew and Yorkshire pudding, but then Flo put the idea of toad in the hole into my head and I've got some Lincolnshire sausage in the fridge. We haven't had it for ages either. I'll cook the sausage seperately from the Yorkshire pudding though as my pudding never seems to rise as well if I cook it with the sausage. We'll have it with mash, carrots, PSB and onion gravy.

Mr GF will be very happy to find out there is a bit of last night's potato and leek soup left that he can have at lunchtime.

                • Salmon, potato wedges and a mixed salad.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

                  • I had a minor catastrophe yesterday. I decided to use a different, smaller tin that I'd not used before for Yorkshire pudding. For some reason it stuck. It still tasted fine but what a job it was scrubbing the tin. Next time I'll use my normal tin and if there's too much the birds can have any leftovers. Mr GF says I spoil them.

Tonight I'm thinking salmon baked with lemon and capers, mashed potato, carrots, PSB and parsley sauce.

                    • Not sure yet, maybe a risotto

gf….we dry fry any left over Yorkshire pudding the next day . (I make mine in a roasting tin and prefer soggy ones to crispy small ones)
don’t think the dryer/ crispier ones would come up the same though the next day.

                      • Another vote here for Yorkshire puds with a soft interior.

We didn't have broccoli curry last night. Too tired, so we had a veggie burger instead. Broccoli curry tonight.

Much as we like broccoli curry, it'll be hard to beat lunch: beans on toast and a couple of madeleines for afters with a cup of tea. Talk about living the life of Reilly.

If that was Mr Snoop, I'd suspect him of eating it but being too embarrassed to own up!

                              • Just ham and cheese rolls with a glass of red.
We ate out earlier today so no cooking.
