  • Yesterday's baked avocado pear was amazing. Might have to be the same again for lunch. I thought it sounded weird the first time I made it years back, but it's a great way to use a not-quite-ripe avocado pear.

    Supper aubergine parmigiana I think.

Also, a couple of 50/50 white and wholemeal sourdough loaves to bake in a bit. Hope they come out OK: I'm hoping to swap one for a dozen eggs with the neighbour down the valley.

      • Tonight chicken goujons, salad and couscous. I am now, however, intrigued by baked avocados.

I don't have a recipe anymore (it was in an ancient book that has got lost over the course of many moves), but I think it probably doesn't even require a recipe.

Split an avocado pear in half, remove stone and fill hole with 25 g or so of blue cheese (I use a sheep's milk blue like Roquefort only much cheaper, I remember Stilton worked well when we were in the UK). Bake at at 190 ºC till cheese is melted and browned to your liking.
