        • We'll have leftover tomato soup for lunch.

I'm going to set the slow cooker off shortly with some chicken and mushrooms and other bits and bobs to make a pie filling and I'll make some shortcrust pastry in the food processor. Therefore chicken and mushroom pie with a bit of mash and carrots and peas. Hopefully I'll get some fresh fruit while I'm out for afters otherwise Mr GF can have yoghurt (Yuk!) and I'll find an ice cream or something similar in the depths of the freezer.

            • The quiche didn't happen last night. We had the weird bread and cheese and cured ham instead. And a decent Rioja for once. Rioja isn't what it used to be. Either that or they export the best stuff.

              Anyway, quiche tonight.

              • 3 day catch-up:

Saturday: Full-English - but mostly grilled & brown bread instead of a fried slice to make us think it was a healthy option lol

Sunday: no roast! controversial in these parts but we were too tired by the time we got home from the plot so it was southern coated chicken (can't call it fried as it was oven baked) with coleslaw

Tonight: the roast we didn't have yesterday - lamb chops, cabbage, french beans, roast carrots, roast potatoes, gravy & mint sauce

                    • Chicken fillet burger in a crusty roll (haven't stolen yours Florence Fennel - honest ) with mayo & lettuce & some of those microwave french fries.

Everything's going to be coming with lettuce for a while I think as we've so much of it lol.

PS: never thought of a cheese toasty with soup Bren in Pots - what a fab idea

                      • The extra chicken and mushroom pie filling that I cooked yesterday I zapped and turned into soup for lunch.

Tonight we're going to have salmon baked with lemon and capers, homemade tartare sauce, new potatoes, carrots and broccoli.

More of yesterday's strawberries and cream.

I've noticed that it's not just me who's having more soups, stews and other Wintry foods than is normal for August.

I’ve found Tomato soup works best with toasted cheese sandwiches.
Here’s a link to Brambles recipe it’s my favourite.

                          • Breast of chicken curry with basmati rice.
                            Rhubarb and custard for desert.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
