  • Hot Dogs with loads of onions. Throw Out postponed until tomorrow (live football for Himself tonight so eating takes a back seat). There may be cake.

    • Had double decker fried egg butties in the camper. Too full now to eat anything else!

      • Roast chicken done in a chicken brick with a lot of the veg in there too for a late lunch.

I didn't make any cake yesterday due to change of plans. But mincemeat cake for us today, plus a couple of sourdough loaves to bake.

          • Last night's trifle like creation was very nice. It wasn't a proper trifle as it had broken up ginger biscuits moistened with booze and orange juice in the base instead of sponge, but it did have tinned mandarins, custard and whipped cream and was finished off with a few strawberries and some ginger biscuit crumbs.

Tonight salmon baked with lemon and capers, jacket sweet potatoes, sweetcorn, and avocado and tomato salad.

            Strawberries and cream.

            • Your trifle sounds delish gf!
Reminds me of something similar I used to make for the children.
Jamaica ginger cake sliced up, butterscotch instant whip and a couple of tins of mandarins. So simple and yet so yummy.Bet it would be nice made up as a trifle with custard on the top too!

Tonight we’re having a bbq- belly pork and spicy merguez sausages with bbq courgette served with yog.
A side salad of our toms and cucumber chopped up .
Starting with a globe artichoke, finishing with what, yet again, looks like the last of our raspberries and strawberries with ice cream.

              • Throw Out kebab, but have managed to make 2 banana cakes and a quiche for tomorrow.
I've had a cheese and onion crisp sandwich to keep me going

                • I'm probably setting myself up for failure here but I think tomorrow I'm going to have a go at a strawberry Eton Mess type dessert. Although I have no problem at all with a light, fluffy lemon meringue pie, I have never successfully made a slow cooked solid-ish meringue. I won't go into details but my last attempt, a few years ago, was a complete and utter disaster. If the worst comes to the worst we'll just have strawberries and cream.

                  • My mum used to make meringues so they were just slightly caramel in colour and crispyish on top, but soft and squidgy inside. I'd forgotten all about those, so thanks for the reminder, GF. Strawberries and cream in a bowl with a couple of those on top would be delicious. Don't have to be hard and white if that's not the way they come out, I reckon.

Leftover chicken with a pile of salad for today. So that's easy!

Orange-flavoured ring cake for the neighbour who'll be coming by with eggs for us this afternoon.

                    • Lamb steaks with, charlottes, kale, french beans and carrots. There's some leftover Yorkshire puds in the freezer we'll have those as well.

                      • Lamb here too, we found a rolled half a leg in the freezer from two years ago, so that’s needing eating. Our own runner beans with it plus a mixed veg/ cauli cheese using up bits and bobs in the freezer.

Last of our pears for pud

                        • Last night was prawn, pea and sweetcorn risotto, followed by Eton Mess. The meringues weren't perfect but definitely a vast improvement on past efforts.

                          • Veg soup with the last of the roast chicken in it. Probably ought to make stock from the bones, come to think of it.

                            • Left overs tonight. Can’t wait
Well done with your meringues gf - certainly worth the effort!
