Brioche tastes more like cake than bread so I could see that working not that I'm going to try it.

How about panettone for b&b pud? I've never done it, but I have seen recipes that suggest it for Christmas leftover panettone. Not that there ever is in this household...

My husband adores bread and butter pudding made with buttered pannetone and marmalade. One year the 99p shop was selling large pannetonnes off in February, still in date for a month, and he was greedy. Quelle surprise!
I made one once, not a success .... more like a brick.

I have been called a pudding one more than one occasion and fruity describes me pretty well ... not so much light though

Not a fan of puddings usually but chocolate pud or cake if out or lemon cheesecake.
Have fond memories of rhubarb pie with carnation milk as a youngster

                      Oooo…now you’ve got me remembering!
When I was at junior school one of our neighbours used to make Birds custard with carnation milk and it was lovely.
She used to stir in slices of banana and left it to set. I really , really enjoyed going over to play and being given a bowl of it. Mmmm!

My husband used to love Mallorcan "puddin". It's a bit like a stodgier version of creme caramel, with bread or cake crumbs added to the egg mix.

Tonight we had stewed prunes and custard. Not had that for years and I had forgotten how good prunes taste, deeply plummy.
