Good tip re the yeast - thanks.
I have also found a non-bio detergent which is not to be used with wool and a general cleaner which I was going going to soak cooker hood filters in which said not to be left in prolonged contact with aluminium! All buried on the back in small writing. A magnifying glass is useful.Riddlesdown (S Croydon)

I have a kitchen aid rather than a bread maker but always use the same recipe for a basic loaf and it works every time.
500g bread flour -mostly white but I usually add about 50g wholemeal
350g water
7g dried yeast - the green tin
about 5g salt
I do a slightly different recipe when I make pizza dough - it has a bit of oil in it.
