Tonight's fillet steak was a letdown. Nothing like as tender as I hoped it would be. The dauphinois potatoes were wonderful however and there are leftovers.
The lemon meringue pie was just warm, perfectly melt in the mouth gorgeous. There are leftovers for tomorrow. But they will never be quite as good as when just fresh and warm from the oven.😋😋😋😋 The absolute star of the show.
Spiced carrot and apple soup. Will need a pud of some variety after that, I think. Anyone got any suggestions for a proper pud that takes next to no time to make (but not rice pud, as we've just finished some I made a couple of days ago)?
Snoop, bread and butter pudding? (With marmalade as well).
That crossed my mind. But the only bread I've got is rubbish shop bread, supposedly wholemeal. Awful stuff that barely qualifies as bread bought by Mr Snoop for the freezer but it wouldn't fit. What do you reckon?

I think if you butter and marmalade it well, mix egg, sugar and milk/cream and pour it round it and bung it in the oven until it sets, the texture of the bread won't matter any more, as the top will be crispy and the bottom saturated with the custard mix.
I pondered crumble too, Bren. But I think I'll go with GF's suggestion. Mr Snoop can do the buttering and marmalading while I make the custardy bit, plus it a good way of getting rid of rubbish bread.
