I’m really fancying jacket potatoes. Not sure about fillings yet.

Bren- does MrPots make the tagliatelle from scratch?…you’ve got me thinking that it’d be nice to get our pasta machine out soon. Not used it for ages!

Fish here, but trout fried in butter, bacon and almonds, broccoli, green beans and spuds. Not sure how to do the spuds, maybe julienne potato cake.

    No pud after that lot!

Thanks gf- will look into it x

Absolutely no idea…at this rate it’ll be scrambled eggs on toast.
If I manage to get to the shops this afternoon, then I hope something will grab my attention.

I'm going to roast a chicken this afternoon. I think we'll have it with roast parsnips, mashed potatoes, carrots, french beans and gravy.

    A little blueberry crumble.

Nicos, if your oven is a well known make maybe you can get a new thermostat for it. I know when mine died there were lots of places did spares for electric ovens.... but not gas.

Thanks for that gf ^^^^ yikes! ( but it did make me chuckle a tad at your ingenuity!)

Its a basic top and bottom electric one- but with the luxury of a fan, but I had noticed it doesn’t do roast parsnips the same and I need to par boil those first…so thanks for the heads up - I’d sort of forgotten about that.

Nicos, I'm happy to hear that your oven is still soldiering on. One word of advice, do not try and cook a Christmas cake in a tabletop halogen oven! When my normal oven gave up the ghost one year, I tried. It looked okayish. Unfortunately, only the top inch or so was cooked (burned). The rest was raw. I tried turning it upside down and putting it back in...... I then ended up with a burned top and bottom and a raw middle. The birds got a treat. When I regaled my sister with the sorry tale, she made me one.

I'm planning on making salmon, pea and sweetcorn risotto tonight, but I'll have to pass the fish and chip shop on the way to Mr GF's brother's flat this afternoon, so ....... plans might change.

We found a setting which works in the oven so managed to cook the roasted veg…eventually, so that’s tonight’s supper instead with the last of the tuna quiche.

Another vegetarian supper up the valley. M's cooking has improved dramatically! It'll be a shock to go back to cooking every night again.

Almond paste for stollen and bread.

Oven owes us nothing…9 years ago we paid 200€ for a second hand oven worth well over 2,000€ .
Lets hope the replacement lasts even longer,
