Pizza for supper with friends coming for the weekend. Got the dough bubbling nicely in the fridge from the other day. Cheesecake for afters. A meal just right for kids. Not a healthy meal, but it's vegetables and lentils all the way for the next few days, honest.
Except I've got a chocolate and orange ring cake to make for the weekend as well...

My first attempt at making home grown baked beans. I was dubious about this as I normally hate pulses except for tinned beans in tomato and they usually disagree with me. However I had loads of unused beans (Monte Gusto) on the plants in summer so I let them ripen and dried them and sort of felt I had to use them.
What a faff! Soak over night then drain, rinse, boil hard for 10 minutes, cook for an hour and drain and then you are ready to start the actual recipe. I cooked mine with onion, ham and tomatoes and some chicken stock then served with a baked potato and cheese. They were surprisingly nice, so as long as I don't get bad stomach ache I will cook the rest in one batch and freeze them.A life is like a garden. Thinking of doing a slow cooker cauli /lentil/chickpea curry of some sort (making it up unless I find a recipe) then doing some chicken sort of tandoor style its all in my head and makes sense to me.
No pudding unless I make something.Last edited by Containergardener; 17-02-2024, 07:30 AM.Northern England.

Just had a dinner of cardoon stems, purple potatoes, and leeks. Been meaning to try cooking with cardoons for ages, and every year I have a few self seeded plants that try to move in from the next allotment. Not bad, quite mild, a bit like Jerusalem artichokes maybe.Location: London
