We ended up having jacket sweet potato instead garlic bread with the chicken and salads last night. I then stripped the meat off the carcass and stuck the remnants in the slow cooker and now have lots of chicken stock.

I think I'll use some as the basis for a soup today. Probably tomato and basil soup. We'll have it with bread, butter and a dish of parmesan. We might even have room for mince pies.

Pea risotto with courgette batons on top to make it look a bit more appetising!

Edited: Not the above, which will have to wait. Instead, the last of the cauliflower and pear soup followed by stuffed pasta, which needs eating.

Sausage casserole with green cauli, green beans and baked pots. Don't think we'll need a pud after that lot.

Spiced cauliflower soup, toasted cheese and chutney sandwiches.

Edited to add: That feral cat will be stopping to stay, GF. What a treat that must have been.

The fish and chip shop, which is tiny, was really busy when I went at about 5pm yesterday. Queueing around the shop, and a car park full of people sitting in their cars eating. We only live a 5 minutes drive away. They were really, really good. We couldn't quite finish one portion between us though. The last bit of fish got fed to one of the local stray/feral cats which sometimes camps outside my front door, but runs away if I appear.

Tonight I'm going to roast a chicken. I think we'll have it with roast parsnips, mashed potato, french beans, carrots and gravy.

For pudding, the mince pies we didn't have room for yesterday.
