Eating up salad things from the fridge with pickled herrings and hard boiled eggs.
bananas and yog for pud
Oh Nicos, you have just mentioned one of the very few foods I cannot abide.... pickled herrings. 🤮 I think it's the texture as much as the taste. I lived in the Netherlands for a couple of years, where they are very popular, but despite trying them several times I still found them slimy.
Tonight I'm going to roast a chicken. I think we'll have it with mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy.
I'm still going to roast a chicken, but now the other bits have changed to beer battered onion rings, tomato, pesto and mozzarella bake and garlic bread.
We've had some leftover chicken on sandwiches for lunch. I'll take the rest of the meat off the carcass shortly and freeze some of it. The carcass can go in the slow cooker on low overnight with some herbs, etc to make stock.
Tonight tomato soup, bread and butter and a dish of grated parmesan.
We had a big late lunch (meat off yesterday's chicken in a stir-fry, plus strawberries and Greek yogurt), so supper will be something light. Whatever it is, more strawberries and yogurt for afters.
I made a mackerel tumble salad but when it came time to eat, I didn’t really fancy it
Still…I did have it in the end. Yet didn’t enjoy it.
trifle for pud
Think I need something more adventurous tomorrow.
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Yesterday's 'light' supper turned into a bag of crisps, a big glass of red vermouth with loads of ice and a couple of slices of orange, followed by a cherry and date buttery bar (Mary Berry recipe). Disgraceful! But it definitely met requirements.
Pork chops with broccoli and green beans tonight. Fresh fruit salad for afters.
