  • ^Now look what you've started, Bren! Just as well I haven't mentioned sausage rolls to Mr Snoop. I'd never hear the last of it.

Anyway, fish, chips and green beans tonight. So we aren't exactly suffering.

Loaf of whey and rye bread plus pizza dough on the go. Mr Snoop is champing at the bit at the idea of home-made bread again. I've had to tell him to hold his horses, as it's only 15 ºC in the kitchen, so the loaf will take quite a while.

    • Oi you lot…stop it please with all this talk about sausage rolls!
Our sausage meat is totally different ( no cereal) and our puff pastry isn’t as flakey.
Although…I suppose I could roll and fold it buttered a few more times….

      oh dear…. Where there’s a will there's a way eh!?

          • Made an Ethiopian spiced cabbage dish with my dinky homegrown mini-cabbage (with carrots, potatoes, cumin and turmeric). Never made this before but it was very tasty. I'll keep that recipe.

If you enjoyed that, have a look at misir wat for a spicy Ethiopian lentil dish. If you eat meat, doro wat (chicken dish) is really good with it. I love berbere. Bit hot but delicious hot!

Hi Nicos , it's called Atakilt Wat, there are lots of recipes online, I used a quite simplified version, but next time I'll try this
https://urbanfarmie.com/ethiopian-cabbage/ which also has garlic and ginger (I'd throw in a couple more potatoes though)

                            • There is nothing in my fridge with a really short date or that desperately needs using so I just gave Mr GF a choice of four.

                              1. Quiche of some description with jacket sweet potato and coleslaw.

                              2. Bacon, eggs, tomato with bread and butter.

                              3. Fish pie (cod) topped with mashed potato accompanied by broccoli.

                              4. Soup with bread and butter and a dish of parmesan.

He's picked soup. I'm deciding between mushroom or tomato.
                              Strawberries and cream.

                              • The venison in the freezer really needed using up, so today it'll be venison goulash with braised red cabbage and spätzle (egg noodles, alas those won't be homemade as I'm running out of time)
