  • Kippers! Yes! At one point in my life, I lived in the Isle of Man and sent Manx kippers to my mother regularly.

    • Yes Snoop…up to 20 kg!

That should keep you in kippers for a while

      • Brilliant, thanks Nicos.

I used to order Craster kippers online for delivery to me here in Spain. But not possible nowadays, sadly.

        • I think I'll make a cottage pie for tonight to have with french beans and broccoli.

          Mince pie and cream.

Mr GF has already put in a request for takeaway fish and chips for one evening this week. I'm not arguing.

              • Salad with breaded hake and lemon rice.

Edited to say: love the sound of yours, Bren. Unfortunately, or stupidly, I bought a lot of salad items on a warm day and am now stuck with them. But cod and butterbeans are on the list for early next week. Maybe with a dollop or two of alioli.

                • Snoop, I could live on mountains of crusty bread and alioli......drool, drool.

                  • I’d not heard of alioli found some recipes on line, it does seem similar to garlic mayo unless I’ve found rubbish info.
Can you point me in the right direction Snoop.

Garlic mayonnaise it is, Bren. Made without egg in Catalonia, with elsewhere. There's a piece with a recipe here, but I'm guessing you can buy it ready-made in the UK or cheat and just add a bit of crushed garlic and lemon juice to mayonnaise from a jar.

                          • I might add that I love alioli but have only come across one commercial variety in England in a yellow tub, and it would have put me off for life, if I hadn't already tasted lots of proper alioli and known it was utter crap.

Either make your own from scratch or make it with garlic ,lemon, and decent quality mayonnaise.
