  • With the weather I didn't fancy going to shops, so for dinner it'll be a big pot of minestrone. An opportunity to use up a lot of the veggies in the fridge.

    • Bolognese with rice.
Cheese and crackers with a glass of red.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

      • Green salad with blue cheese and walnuts, pasta with a courgette and cream sauce, tiramisu.

You know when you see recipes and they say for x number of people and you think 'yeah right'? Well that recipe says twelve. And it's true. Twelve generous portions at that.

          • I think I'll make a pie today. Maybe chicken and mushroom. We'll have it with mashed potatoes, brocolli, carrots and gravy.

Not sure what's for dessert yet.

            • Cauliflower curry with lemon rice, the last of the tiramisu for afters.

We've resisted having it for breakfast, Nicos. Even I think that would be too much!

My new sourdough starter is extremely active, but while we were out yesterday Mr Snoop bought bread. And not just one loaf but four, with the extras going in the freezer. So now there's no room for anything else whatsoever. So, what to do with my starter? Anyone got a recommended recipe for sourdough flatbreads/naans to go with the curry?

              • I’ve been fancying kippers since Snoop mentioned them.
I have some vacuumed packed industrial ones in the freezer so tonight’s offering will be a nice big bowl of kedgeree with a side salad.

                    • Thanks, Bren In Pots. I knew you'd have the answer! Those breadsticks look fantastic. I'm a big fan of Elaine and her Foodbod site. Can't think why I didn't think to look there. I like the way she doesn't expect everything to be absolutely perfect, like the way she talks about those breadsticks. Will definitely make some of those soon.

                              • Not the best naans I've ever made, Bren, but I'll put the blame on my starter. Not as active as I'd hoped. I'll try the recipe you recommended next time.

For us for supper, another sausage stew. A proper dinner on a plate, as Mr Snoop would put it, and not that much work in the pressure cooker. And there will be enough for a meal to go in the freezer too. Phew.

No pud. The tiramisu got finished at lunch. I think we need to call a pud break, but there's another friend coming on Wednesday and I've got all the whites from the tiramisu... roulade is looking likely.
