HELP! - Lost my wonderful receipe for mince pie pastry :(

Around 15 years ago I took down a receipe from a breakfast TV program (possibly GMTV or whatever it was back then) and since then everyone has loved my mince pies - so much so I always have to make extra batches for everyone like my Mum etc. This year I cannot seem to find the receipe - I think I have been Daniel'ed!, as he has a facination for looking through my receipe books and files.

Can anyone help me please as all the ones I have come across on internet searches today use a mixture of butter and lard whereas the receipe I had was totaly lard. It also had in it malt vinegar and I am fairly certain it didnt have any eggs or egg yolks.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. It may well be I will have to change my receipe so if one of you can pass on a good one then I would be much obliged. Have bought all the lard now so it must use lard!

Could be it Nicos but I am sure it was water not milk. I could give it a try if nothing else is suggested. Have you tried this one?

Nope - sorry..but it does say never fail!!!!

...why not do half a batch of each and let us know???

I always use normal half butter, half lard but put the zest of an orange into the dry mix and then use half fresh orange juice and half water to make it up. Not what you're thinking of but very nice. Oh and sometimes I put a pinch of cinamon in too.

Never use lard. I do buy it occasionally - but only to put on the bird table! I make my own mincemeat and use veggie suet and I make the pastry with marge, then I can give them to carnivores AND veggies alike.

Actually when I say I use lard I don't use the animal stuff at all and tend to go with the white veg fat stuff which is OK for veggies. Don't like suet in mincemeat much so my mincepies are OK for standard veggies but no good for vegans.

I use half butter/half white Flora, replace a couple of ounces of flour with cornflour, add a couple of dessertspoons of caster sugar & a tsp of mixed spice. Makes yummy almost shortbread-ish pastry

Don't suppose it is this one is it Tammy? You will have to wind down a bit to see the recipe. I might give this one a go myself, looks yummy.
