Artichoke,, loved it

Hi,

A bit of a strange one I know especially considering my age,, but up untill about an hour ago I had never tried artichokes :-(.

I was out shopping today and came across some prepared artichokes and garlic and chili dressing,, reduced from £2 down to £0.25p, so I thought what the hech lets try them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LOVELY thats all I can say, but now I find myself wandering what other wonderfull dishes have I missed out on by not trying them before.

Can anyone tell me how to cook them, and some good recipies would be great.

I'm assuming it would be the thisle-like Globe Artichoke? I've never grown these, though I've had the prepared ones. I grow Jerusalem Artichokes and I really love them!

PS - they say you should try everything once except Incest and Country Dancing!

i've never tried artichoke either ........ though i did belong to the country dancing group at primary school

I adore artichokes and as soon as we get our big garden I'm deffo growing some globes. I want to try the Violetta ones. My fave is just steamed or boiled, then the leaves dipped in melted butter or Hollandaise, then the lovely choke. They are a wee bit fiddly to prepare but only a few minutes.

Also bottled for salads - wonderful.
