    I always do the cold water then hot thing with gravy, and cold milk in the hot chocolate before adding hot water. I thought I was the only smart-arse to think of it

      I cheat by puting granules with the meat juice and the sticky bits in the pan rather than using cornflour.

        My weight control efforts have included Rosemary Conley classes, which informed us of the high fat/calorie content of 'gravy granules'. If I had been tempted before, that would put me off! (the 'teacher' didn't seem to know of the existence of the old-fashioned Bisto like my Mum used, which was simply cornflour with a bit of brown colouring and some seasoning).
        Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
