Does anyone have any recipes suitable for diabetics? I'm looking for starters, mains and puds. Have bought a couple of books but still need more ideas. Thanks
Most recipes are suitable for diabetics. The recommended diet for diabetics these days is the same as a healthy diet for non-diabetics. So long as you have a reasonable idea of the amount of carbohydrate it contains it shouldn't be a problem. It might be sensible to include some low GI foods.
Are you talking about a one-off dinner party where one or more of the guests is a diabetic or everyday food?

That's what I thought too - only desserts are likely to be an issue, because of the almost unavoidable sugar content.
For a dinner party type of meal, I would go for a low-carb starter such as Caesar salad (with optional croutons) or smoked salmon, and make sure that the carbohydrate in the main course is "help yourself" rather than integrated into the dish. For dessert, something with fresh fruit is probably a good idea, and maybe offer some cheese and nuts as an alternative? If I'm feeling lazy I just arrange slices of fresh fruit on a platter (sometimes I grill them beforehand, especially in colder weather), then serve with cream or G&B vanilla ice-cream
Try Foodsmatter.com. They have a range of recipes, products etc for all sorts of food intolerances and allergies. My Dad's lactose and wheat sensitive so I use some of their recipes for him. You could look at their alternatives to sugar for baking for desserts.
I worked in Asda years ago on the Customer Service desk and you could go in and ask for a list of all the diabetic/ gluten free etc lines in store. They also used to have recipes too. Don't know if this is still the case but you can only ask?...
