Perhaps I should get some chickens as i seem to be specialising in surplus breakfast cereals at the moment, particularly oats... Any alternative uses (from recipes to catching slugs...) please for Oatibix, Quaker Oats (both of which I find a bit 'dusty') or a locally mixed muesli (about 40% oats and a bit too healthy for my liking...). Can you include oats in bread-making? Thanks for any suggestions. b.

I did exactly what lynda66 suggested and made müsli bars last week. Rice crispies, the dust of a few müsli boxes, the end of a bag of coconut, some raisins, some dried goji berries, pumpkin seeds -whatever I had. I melted some margarine (would have used butter, but thought the neighbours' kid who can't eat dairy might have some), peanut butter and honey together and then mixed that in with the rest. It was a bit too dry as it crumbled easily, but it still was very tasty!

Melt equal weights plain toffee, marshmallow and block margarine in a bain-marie type thingy, stir in cereal and mix well and press into greased (use the marge wrapper) tray, allow to set and cut into cereal bars. Georgeous and very pop with kids.Family motto "semper in excretum"
