This is my first post on this site so hello everyone! And far be it from me to start with an argument but how can you possibly get fed up with RC re-runs? Hugh's series turned me from a can't cook won't cook mum to a cook everything from scratch and grow as much of your own as poss mum. And that has to be good. Rant over.

Nope, I agree with you there Monkeybum. Not content with watching the repeats a billion times over, I'm contemplating asking for the DVDs for Chrimbo! It was really what first opened my eyes up to 'real' food (as it were)

Monkeybum I could never get fed up of watching Hugh. The programmes are great, his books are always a fabulous read and doesn't he look cute!!

I use his books every day, his banana bread recipe is to die for...and yes there is a cuteness about him. I am sure I was making a serious point here but no good it's gone. Your argument deflection technique is very good Lesley. I can see why you are a mod.

Monkeybum I think Hugh is the best thing since sliced bread!! Watching his life style change from being a towny to foraging for his own food, growing his first vegetables and then introducing live stock has been so interesting to see. Hugh single handedly must have helped change the way many people live and I think he should be applauded for that.

It is well documented on this forum that I am a fan of Hugh and I have to admit that I do think he is cute. I didn't realise that I had an arguement deflection technique!

Hi monkeybum and welcome to the Vine! yes, there are plenty of HFW fans here - myself included! super ideas/recipes etc. my OH has to put up with me watching all the repeats etc and I've got everything he's done on DVD as well! Sad? maybe - but there's something about that hair and glasses that does it for me! DDL

Another HFW fan here too, been following him since the 'Cook on the Wildside' series, lapped up everything he's produced on telly. There is something about him, not just looks wise, but he is intelligent, sensitive and he has such a great way of explaining things that I find him riveting!

I agree HFW is interesting and I love his programmes. If any of you get the chance to see him live he is really entertaining. I saw him locally when he brought out his meat book. Got it signed.. His talk was fasinating and he answered loads of questions. A very good evening.

Oh my! a chance to meet and greet the great man in person! now that would be something!
But I'd probably make a fool of myself, just like I did when I had the chance to say hello to Princess Diana.
She made a visit to where I worked and I was stood behind a lady she came to say hello to - so I was just about as close as you could get!
Her skin and hair were just perfect - and I mean, perfect! She was lovely and friendly and smiling and happy.
The only photo I could've had with us both on the same photo - I'm stood there with my big gob WIDE open! I looked like a b****y goldfish! She never said anything though! DDL

well the hormoans are high today I wonder if HFW knows the effect he has on you all,proberly thats why he keeps going, and yes i have to admit i have too watch all them r.c reruns as well also do you remember down on the farm only caught a few of those right at the end but that man and his ideas he just made things look so simple

My 5 year old daugter was watching a HFW repeat with me a couple of weeks ago when he went brambling - and the result was that the next Saturday and Sunday were spent picking brambles with her (at her insistence on the Sunday, in the pouring rain) and then making Bramble Jelly on Sunday night.
So thank you HFW, for getting my daughter to spend a whole weekend with no TV, and for me catching a cold !!

Iona (my 5 yr old) is now obsessed with picking berries from the hedges and verges of the country - brambles, rowans, hips and haws - anything that Daddy can turn into jam / jelly or other food !!
