Thank you Lesley! I can't wait to see what the other grapes recommend! I'm eager to learn how to cook a really nice pudding! Am going to tea to my in-laws tomorrow night and am making the pudding - so can't wait to get started! DDLLast edited by dexterdoglancashire; 03-11-2006, 05:42 PM.Bernie aka DDL

Now I will definitely have something to contribute. The books have been ready and waiting. You may have to wait a little longer though as we have a very active 4 year old tonight. There are some I have been thinking of posting for a couple of weeks.
Don't forget chocolate crispy cakes can be eaten with ice cream or crumbled to make a topping for something. They are not just frivolous chocoholic moments. Ohh a feel a wicked puddings book moment coming on.Bright Blessings

Here you go DDL!
Ingredients
1 large cooking apple per person
raisins
sugar
Method
Core the apples and lay on a piece of baking foil large enough to wrap the apple in
Fill the center with the raisins
Add a tablespoon of sugar to the top
Sprinkle with a little cinamon (option)
Wrap and put into a hot preheated oven (220C) for about 15 mins, tho depending on the size of the apple it may take a little longer
Unwrap and serve with custard or cream!
Delish!
Make sure you remember to wrap them in tin foil, I forgot last time and although they tasted fab they were a little too chewy and crusty! Mind you, charcoal is supposed to be a good source of minerals, or so I'm told! lol!Blessings

Super fast easy dessert.
Fruit upside down cake
Put a couple of square inches of butter in the dish.
Microwave to melt then make sure the bottom and sides are thoroughly coated with the melted butter.
While still warm put in two heaped tablespoons of brown sugar and stir to dissolve in the butter. You should have a nice buttery brown goo all over the bottom of the dish.
Slice some apples or Pears and or Blackberries or anything you fancy really in a thick layer over the sugar mixture .
Sprinkle on some Rum or Brandy or any other booze or Liqueur you have.
Whip up a plain/ chocolate sponge mix or even a packet. Pour over and microwave on full power for about 3 minutes. You'll see when it's done. The middle will be the last bit to cook.
Leave for 4 minutes or so before turning out and serving hot with cream or custard or eat cold as a cake.
This is much more gorgeous than it sounds and can be made in minutes.
In fact I could have made two in less time than it's taken me to type this!

Mrs D - I'm SO embarrassed! I didn't wrap them in foil - just left them to cook......cooking time finished, opened the oven door ........it's going to be apple crumble for tea instead! DDLBernie aka DDL

Hate to tell you Mrs D, but last I heard, charcoal was supposed to be a carcinogenic, though I had heard before that that it was quite good for you, so who knows!
DDL - I've done that with baked apples too: Mum said bake them for X amount of time, and I went to check on them before that time was up and they were mush!
