I remember the adverts from years ago but my mother never used them so I haven't either! Although she never used onions or garlic but happily I discovered them long ago
I guess its a bit like adding worcestershire sauce or anchovy essence... it adds something but nothing that you can put your finger on.

I used to use OXO cubes, then I discovered Kallo. It's like going from the cheapest instant coffee to the one that not everyone can tell from the 'proper' stuff! Kallo cubes don't contain MSG, most others do.....
Yes, I did know about the 'crumble first' trick (unfortunately you can't do that with the Kallo cubes, but they do dissolve easily).Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
