I think roasted garlic is lovely, but apart from that I have not really tried any other ways....yet!
Garlic scapes are the long flower shoot that come out from the middle of the plant. If you left it, it would flower. Removing it is supposed to make the plant concentrate it's energies on producing a nice big fat juicy bulb of garlic below.
My mum says they are nice stir-fried. It's not my cup of tea as I'm not a spring onion/garlic fan.
Chop up the garlic scapes Butterfingers and add them to the soup, stew, stir fry, salad - anything you would like a mild taste of garlic in.
They keep well in an airtight box in the fridge.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
thanks for the ideas,
stir fried sounds good to me!. would have gone for BBQ with the weather being nice , but ill look a sad old twit sitting out side all alone , just me and the scapes.
a good put down line to use !
