  • I'm Lovin' Kohl Rabi

Ooh today I ate my first Kohl Rabi ever and I'm liking it, I'l liking it a lot!

I steamed it whole for about 15 minutes and as the books said, peeled it once cooked - mind a bit like trying to peel a hot potato, there were a few drop catches here and there.

Why can't you peel before you cook - or can you???

I had my first one last week- the second is in the kitchen ready to be eaten this weekend! Yummy aren't they??

I was told to peel them, slice finely and steam for about 5 mins and then roll in butter and thick creme fraiche ( no double cream here)- bit of salt and pepper/chilli
I served mine on toast as a lunch snack- half each....we were both almost licking the plates afterwards!

Interestingly I hadn't told my OH what it was- and after his first mouthful said the potato wasn't properly cooked...what potato ?said I !!

we were more that pleased with the texture and flavour...I'll certainly be growing it every year from now on!
