OH was making some veg. soup for lunch today and asked for some stuff from the garden. I pulled a leek, a few carrots and small swede to which she added onion and potato. In passing I mentioned that we had lots of sweet peppers in the greenhouse so she chopped and added one. What a difference...apart from making the soup look more interesting with the bright red of the peppers the flavour was superb. Why didn't we think of it before ?

I used to make a soup which had peeled tomatoes, onions, sweet peppers and one or two chillies - stopped after burning myself when the top of the blender blew off (you know the scenario) - but the pepper soup was one of my party pieces for a while.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I use them in soup regularly. In fact I use anything we have a glut of - or a bit left over!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

You're right Solway Cropper. Peppers are very good in soup.
I make an Italian vegetable soup - Minestra - a lighter version of Ministrone - and I put peppers in that.
Mexican sweetcorn and chicken soup is very good and I put peppers in that.
Jeanied, if you want to go back to using your blender safely, put an old towel over the lid while it's in use - just in case.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
