Internet prices are usually cheaper cos there are less overheads, we find it in my company, AND we arent allowed to price match on websites, not even our own! Thankfully with our new till system we too can offer reserve and collect, so no longer will be loosing out to the internet as they can pay online prices and we in the store get the sale!
Technically known as 'clicks and mortar'. Honest - that is the industry term for buy online and collect from store, or buy on line and delivered from local store (first done by a chain of bookshops in the late '90s).
Difficult to know what I need, without not knowing what I need......I think.
To get a feel for it all, borrow one from a friend or buy the cheapest one you can find and give it a try. You will find after a few loaves what you don't like and be in a better position to choose the ideal machine.

With all your advice and information i did some research and chose a Russell hobbs breadman.
So far its made me and the cat jump during kneading, it banged about a bit but a wedge under one corner put paid to that, now its baking but it looks a bit uneven in the pan, i'm hoping it will finish up level.
I'm wondering what to tell the OH when he gets back home this evening, told him a while ago i wanted a bread maker, he said no you will never use it.

I love the idea, but as I live on my own I don't think I use enough bread to make it worthwhile. Plus when I used to make my own bread by hand it was lovely, but I (and the family) ate far too much of it. A freshly baked loaf is irresistible!!!

Check your instructions - in ours (Kenwood), the troubleshooting bit says 'loaves uneven/shorter on one end - dough too dry and not allowed to rise evenly in pan - increase liquid by 15ml'.

Incidentally the instruction book for mine its the funniest thing ever, it starts of by saying read this book first then put it away and forget about it until something goes wrong.

Mine does but I only tried it once and wasn't impressed. Made my own bramble and apple jelly and crabapple jelly too this year. Hoping for a decent crop of rasps and strawbs next year for my first try at 'proper' jam now.
When you are bored with the recipe book that it came with, I'd recommend a book called 'fresh bread in the morning' by Annette Yates - cost next to nothing in the works and I use it for most of my bread.
And yes, RL is right - you will now eat WAAAAAAAAY too much bread.
