  • Making your own Part Baked Bread

It all started last week when I decide to make my own Naan Breads by hand rather then having shop bought as usual. They turned out great and I will making my own in future rather than buying them, so much cheaper.

Anyway, this has set me off making all my bread by hand rather than using my trusty bread maker. I have just made today's bread and would love to have home made rolls with Christmas dinner tomorrow.

My questions are, is it possible to make your own part backed bread to finish off cooking tomorrow and has anyone any experience good or bad to pass on.

Yes, you can make the bread, prove it; and knock it back and put into the fridge either as dough or made into the shapes you want. Then take it out the next day and let it warm up a little; then bake.

You can actually part bake it. I've done it on hols, to have hot rolls for breakfast. Take it out when the bread is 'set' if you see what I mean - about half way through cooking. It will be pale and interesting! Finish it off next day.

          Part Baked Bread

          Hello,

If you've got the bread bug, I urge you to seek out Richard Bertinet's "Dough" or "Crust" books. He says for part bake, remove from oven, when the crust starts to form, cool, wrap well and freeze Worked with baguettes I made the other day, haven't tried whole loaf though. See his website too for details of his courses, if you get the chance, I did basic bread course and I'm completely hooked!
