I'm with Bernie on this. Mash any day, cold weather or not! If you make too much (never happens!) you can add a little SR flour and seasoning till it mixes up into a dough and fry it as potato cakes - brill with egg and bacon. Or sausage. Or by themselves!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Braised steak with shallots and mushrooms, and mustard mash.
and my current fave, Bolognese sauce on top of cheesy mash.
I seem to have a bit of a potatoey theme going on here.
