Oooooooo....got to try CC's rice pud. I'm doing chicken'n'rice for supper tomorrow so I'd better not have rice for pud too. Perhaps Saturday.
Talking of cardamons, hot chocolate made the old fashioned is nice if you steep a few cardamoms in it, and add a good pinch of cinnamon.
Evaporated milk makes good hot choc too; Two really really heaped tsps of hot choc powder, mix to a paste with half an inch of evap in the bottom of a mug and fill to top with boiling water. Stir well. Lovely creamy frothy hot choc.

my daughter always takes a packed lunch to school - I've been trying to give her hot stuff in a flask recently. I suggested that we put some twirly pasta in her tomato soup as per a post on here and I have to tell you that she thinks this is just the 'coolest idea ever!'
she is off to school today with the very dish and can't wait till lunchtime apparently. So many thanks to whoever posted it - too lazy to check back - sorry!

For anyone who wants to try some glorious baklava, try this recipe. I usually substitute at least some of the almonds for walnuts; I sometimes leave out the orange peel; and I prefer triple-rose water if you can get it.

Bren, an inspired choice of recipe - guess what I'm making tomorrow!!! And it looks like a good low cal soup as well!
At work today I was tucking in to the potato and herb soup they make and one of my colleagues was reminiscing about the winter of '62/3 when we had a serious big freeze - and going out with a hot baked potato as a hand warmer / snack!!!Last edited by Jeanied; 08-01-2010, 07:18 PM.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
