I love the idea of making a citrus peel powder - would be really versatile. Never thought of it before so thanks for that.
I like boiling the strips in syrup, then cooling, drying and dipping in dark chocolate. And the orange peel must offset any calories in the chocolate...
I think I remember reading somewhere that you can use them as fire lighters.
Dried peel burns really well, I do it with all the satsuma peel - when they burn they throw out amazing jets of flame! I dry them on top of the trivet that I keep on the woodburner, with the plus that they make the room smell lovely too (unless it gets too hot and they burn - not a good room fragrance, burnt satsuma ). Enjoy!
p.s. I reckon they are better at getting a fire blazing a bit more, rather than the actual first lighting of one, but see how you get on. I tend to fling them on when the fire is low, to perk it up and add a bit of excitement!
