This is a practical demonstration of the effects of osmosis as the sugar molecules won't pass through the skins, but the water will.

I never fry them, I always bake them slowly in the oven.

Gosh I'm now spoilt for choice. They all sound delicious. I think I might try Bren's idea as I've parsnips and swede as well as a tin of cannellini beans in the cupboard.

Ollie your use for leftover skins is inspirational but what do I do with them once inflated ?

Re your sausages, suggest a sausage caserole with mash and a nice pile of green veg.
Other than the way I mentioned above, we always grill ours. Had some lovely ones last night with mash and onion gravy.

No filter but I can beat them with their own parsnips if you like?

Ok tea over. That recipe of Bren's was yummy. Didn't have carrots so used swede and added a sploosh of Worcester sauce and a sprinkle of herbs de provence. Everyone cleared their plates even youngest who usually would pick out the parsnips and swede!

Now confession time... Didn't have enough potatoes to do mash so...
looked in the freezer and..... used tesco's frozen mash (hangs head in shame.
Anyway it was all finished off with a piece of chocolate and beetroot cake (homemade)

We took that sausage bake camping and one of the best complements was from a 15year old telling her mum to try it 'cos it was yum'

Nothing wrong with frozen mash if its followed by cake can you post the recipe please I've not tried that before.
