  • Chocolate and Orange - Evil?

I just tried to make 'marmalade' out of the waaay-past-their-best oranges we've had since just after Christmas. I won't tell you how I did it because it would make anyone who knows and cares about marmalade throw up their hands (or just throw up), but there's a big jar of it, it's in the fridge, it tastes fine, so that all that matters.

Anyway! I found myself with several syrup-poached orange skins and so cut some into strips and dipped into dark chocolate, then threw the rest into the food processor with some sliced almonds, melted dark chocolate, bit of butter and a pinch of salt. Then rolled into very small balls and chill.

They're delicious - I know some people think orange and chocolate is the devil, but honest, these are nice. They're quite bitter, nutty and dense, but almost worth a go even if you're not trying to use up random bits of orange peel...
    I don't roll on Shabbos

Who thinks that chocolate and oranges are the devils work? Have they never eaten chocolate oranges? It is clearly they that are wrong.................

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have made marmalade out of "any old oranges" but I always add lemons too, everyone who eats it seems to like it so I would say go for it and have a bash with whatever you've got.

Chocolate Oranges, since my grandson was old enough to distinguish between one chocolate and another he has always said, Nan, please can you only buy me orange flavoured chocolate.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
