I make the same soup as above with less cream. It's delish!
And I boil them and mix with normal mash for a bit of interesting flavour, or boil and mash them on their own.
OH is fed up of them as they do have VERY nasty side effects for him

When I grew some I made a whole load of mash with them and stored it in the freezer. I could then use it for adding to normal mash and making soups. I also made some chutney which was really nice.

However, I did try to make a sweet-potatoe pie with then instead of sweet potatoes. Big mistake! It's the only pie I've put straight into the bin after a small try.

Need to try and find some more in the shops though now as I've just moved house and forgot to bring some with me. Where did you buy yours from?

Chutney....hmm sounds nice, hadnt thought of that!

Got mine from the local farm shop, they buy (mostly though unfortunately not always,) from local farms and one of them grows them. I have never seen them in the supermarket.....mind you, they wold probably have been flown in from Peru or some such if they did stock them.

You Could try and find a local organic veg box scheme?

I love them loads but they have an unfortunate side effect with my OH! Im still gonna try growing them tho! Wonder why they effect some people and not others? My OH gets quite bad pain with them too, but yes agree with all....the taste!

Having read other people's comments, I'm relieved that we're in the never-had-that-problem camp... glad we're free to just enjoy them! It's similar the asparagus 'thing' - doesn't affect everyone in the same way I guess.
