Fellow Marmite fans only

I don't want to hear from the "bleaurgh - it's 'orrible brigade", don't buy it - the packing is nice and bright so you don't get it mixed up with your crab paste.

Anyway - defensiveness out of the way, I very frequently have Marmite on toast of a morning, with the occasional day were I have either Gentlemen's Relish, or some form of jam/preserve/conserve (blueberry conserve today for example).

Now, when I have the other two I always spread butter on first, allow it to melt and then spread the GR, or Jam etc. With Marmite however I just go raw - straight Marmite onto dry toast.

So, fellow Marmiters - how do you do it?

I love the stuff, but NEVER on raw toast. I've done it a couple of times out of desperation but it makes my teeth feel funny. I'm a straightforward toast and butter (both homemade ) and a lot of Marmite. I'm a bit wary of strange folks who only like a teensy thin scraping. You've got to commit to it!

This morning though, I have toast with Philly and marmite. Nice!

I confess that I don't understand Gentlemen's Relish.

Definately with, but I like Bovril spread on toast with and without

The first rule of the "Fellow Marmite fans only" thread is:
You do not talk about (how you don't like) Marmite!

White bread: Spread (not butter), melted, Marmite on top.
Brown bread: Spread (not butter), Marmite on top.

Same with Bovril. Call me crazy, but I just don't enjoy either Marmite or Bovril as much with butter. I have butter with jam or honey, it's not a healthy thing, it's purely taste.
