  • Naughty Pudding - what's yours?

Got my Dad coming over for lunch tomorrow and his favourite pud is Creme Brulee. So I'm making white chocolate creme brulee with black cherries in cassis liqueur.

1/2 pt double cream, 4 egg yolks, caster sugar and 100g white chocolate. Put choc in bowl over pan of simmering water with the cream to melt. Whisk yolks and tablespoon of sugar in another bowl. Pour melted choc cream onto yolks, strain into a jug and pour into ramekins or any other pots you have. I'm using 4" wide glazed terracotta pots about 1" high. Put into roasting tin, pour in enough boiling water to reach half way up pots and bake in cool oven around 140C til just set. Shallow dishes like mine only take about 15-20 mins.

Take out and leave to cool. Sprinkle over more caster sugar and caramelise with cooks blowtorch or if you're handy with DIY can use a butane blow torch from the DIY store.

Using frozen black cherries which I heat in pan with some sugar and splash of lemon juice. When defrosted and hot, put into bowl and pour over some cassis. Leave to marinate in the liqueur til served with the brulees.

    What's your secret indulgence?

I am not big on puddings myself but if pushed I do like Pane cotte, or a cherry pie
Your Creme Brulees sound lovely though!

We've got friends over for lunch tomorrow and I'm doing two different desserts; Sticky Toffee Pudding and Torta de Laranja. But other favourites would be tiramisu or a cheesecake

Don't do desserts that often, but I suppose the naughtiest home made one would probably be Banoffee Pie. My personal all time favourite dessert is rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream and, thinking about it, I haven't made it for a while so may have to make one tomorrow.

Not a naughty pudding but my favourite one is plain old rice pudding.

Don't often do puddings, your recipe sounds lovely though. I have fond memories of syrup sponge pudding covered in custard. Real old fashioned comfort food and disastrous for the waistline.

I really like making puds, but do like to keep them simple. My current faves to make are icecream cake a la Nigella, (this is great as you can make ages in advance) with various differentiations, and maltesa cheesecake. If anyone wants the recipes I will oblige
