  • Top TV Cooking Shows Down Under

    G’Day All!

The most popular cooking show on TV Down Under is Ready Steady Cook. The dishes are cooked by top Aussie chefs using a bag of mystery ingredients brought in by contestants. You can search by date or recipe category. Have a look and post your responses here. I have oodles of recipes to try! Main Home - Ready Steady Cook

We have another very popular cooking show called Alive and Cooking. The host is British chef James Reeson. If you like cooking have a look at the web site at - Alive and Cooking with James Reeson - Easy to cook recipes that the whole family will love. Here is some more information about James Reeson - The Occasional Cook - About James Reeson and ALIVE AND COOKING PREMIERES ON WIN.

The recipes from both shows can be downloaded for free, with some watchable by video. We have seen some scrumptious dishes so I will look forward to giving them a go.

There is also a relatively new interesting TV cooking series screening on the ABC (the government channel). You can see the recipes and watch cooking videos, see Home - Poh’s Kitchen.

    Enjoy!

        G'Day Guys!

I didn't realise you were getting Masterchef Australia there. The first series ended last year and is almost a distant memory for us here in Oz. I won't tell you who won as it will spoil your enjoyment of it.

Just concluded here has been the first series of My Kitchen Rules Official Site - Channel 7 - Yahoo!7 TV. If you haven't got it in the UK you can see videos etc from this web site. As with Masterchef Australia many thought the couple that won shouldn't have got first prize which was 100 grand cash! In my view the prize should have been conditional, and only handed over if they put it towards opening their own restaurant. Instead, they can travel round the world on it and blow the lot if they want to! That aside, it was an entertaining series with the second one starting up soon.

Ready Steady Cook has been going on here for so many years now it's turned into a joke, it also has top chefs on, but it's still rubbish...in my eyes anyway, can't be doing with Ainsley Harriott sticking his nose in all the time.

You're leaning on an open door here with regard to your comments on Ainsley. Wouldn't you just like to get a heavy cast iron frying pan and apply it to the back of his head.

The host on the Aussie version of Ready Steady Cook is Peter Everett. He knows nothing about cooking; he's an entertainer. He has the same bad habit of sticking his nose in, asking loads of stupid questions and doesn't remember what the chefs have told him about the dishes, so 15 minutes later, or when the dishes are plated up he asks the very same questions. All that aside, Peter is funny and the audience always laughs at each show. The dishes cooked by the top chefs certainly look scrummy so there are quite a few positives with the Aussie version of the show.

Is Bill Granger big down under? He's trying to make a name for himself here now.
